AAAARGH!
I rode ~3800 miles on this trip. I used the Garmin every day. But I
never bothered to start Trip Planner or an Adventure. So it didn't keep
track of my route, except for the last leg from Brugge to Peasemore.
Damn. Now I can't find all the wrong turns I took.

You didn't have a phone tracking your location?

Google Maps?

Not sure if iPhone does something similar.

Doesn't the garmin auto-log? I'm sure mine does but it's only got a fixed
memory size so older bits get overwritten.

my Garmin has only remembered the last 800 miles of tracks - you have to
save them to the SD card or import them to Basecamp on a PC or they get
overwritten.

IIRC, Turby, on your last trips were you using a Windows laptop not a
tablet? Were you connecting the Garmin to the laptop during the trip so
that tracks were archived to Basecamp during the trip?

It's possible. I'm still recuperating.

I'm too senile to remember when I got this tablet, but I
_think_ it's the same one. And no, I wasn't connecting it. More evidence
of my mental state.

Am I a rarity?[1] Or are people just getting too in thrall of their
electronic devices?

I can confidently say, that if given a map I can retrace a route taken.
(including wrong turns). And not just recent ones. I reckon I could
re-map our 2007 3 month USA trip[2]

[1] no need to answer that.
[2] Ok, the 1st part would be easy as once we got to Chicargo we
followed route 66.

A thousand more than me, then.

I *think* I can retrace mine, though the centre of San Francisco will
be a bit tricky.

The stench of former clutch components in the parking garage (11th
floor) was intense.

It was borderline gone by the time we exited town two days later, but
all was good once it had cooled down again.
