The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server.

Maybe I've been thrown off for some unknown transgression?

I'd be looking at your ISP and local setup, rather than ES.

Badly formed packets can lead the remote unit to throw you off, and if
ES are having problems, the information is on their website.

All ports on the Eternal September servers are currently showing no
problems and low usage. There are currently only about 500 users
connected using NNTP.

Yes its just cutting off the connection every time. At the start of this ist
was intermittent.
Sadly I cannot create a new account as they seem to be employing a
discriminatory cap char on the site, it says type in the chars from the box
, but of course I can only see a blank box. Most sites are getting wise and
operating either an audio one or one based on word usage that a computer
would find difficult to solve.

Is there an email address for enquiries, as I could not see one I'm using a
back up server and as that works, it surely cannot be the isp.
The problems with this one is that its very strict on crossposts and you
only get a limited number of posts within a certain period.
