I received a message today to say that Rick Sanderson our resident
optician passed away in June.

Rick was a decent bloke. I met him several times whilst working in
Blackburn. He had only just turned 50.

I found out only because I asked if the OneStopGlasses website currently
"under maintenance" would be coming back. It won't.

I think a good measure of Rick was the lengths to which he went to get
the cat his wife wanted and his pleasure at delivering.

Oh, that's really sad news. He certainly seemed like a decent guy from
his postings here. I have bought a few pairs of lenses and frames
from him over the year (with a uk.d-i-y discount, no less).

I was thinking about him only the other day, a selfish question about an
intermediate distance adjustment for using a TV as a computer at 1.8m.

I don't think I ever responded to any of his posts, but I certainly read
them, and found them useful.
