As one who has sat through some seemingly interminable drum solos in my
time (even those by greats like John Bonham) I would suggest that a bass
solo may not be such a bad thing.

(I mean, seriously - does anyone actually listen to Side 4 of Wheels Of
Fire[1] for pleasure?)

Many years ago while I was still at school a bf took me to a concert
(gig?) by Buddy Rich. I liked the in between bits best where he
chatted and told jokes.

And I cannot find a decent solution to an Android phone and newsgroups

I've never found gaining next-of-kin status to various people difficult,
but have only consciously disposed of it once - by divorce - though no one,
during that brief situation, ever asked either of us who our next of kin
was. Does it have some legal status? I've only been asked about it in
hospitals, and the first time Ray was asked, in that situation, we had a
difference of opinion on the subject.

I assume Nick's son went through the same process to transfer his
next-of-kin from Nick to A.N.Other as you did. In which case,
congratulations are in order.

Thank you, John. Congarats appreciated and your assumptions are
correct. It was really nice having (most of) the far-flung members of
the family together for the special occasion. Unfortunately Liliana,
who had timed her visit around the event, had had to fly home early.
Her eldest daughter has experienced an acceleration in the process
which will promote Liliana to the rank of Grandmother.

Ah, that had not occurred to me, largely because I hadn't given a thought
to the movement of NoK from either D#1 or D#2 - they are both mine.

Congarats all round, hope the birth goes/went well.
