Has the number of postings on this group - and other groups - fallen
over the past few weeks? I went on holiday for a week and the number
of unread posts was lower than I expected. Is this a loss of interest
or suppression of spam?

Can't say I've noticed particularly but we do have one prat who cuts and pastes long articles of mostly nonsense. He seems to have been missing for a while.
