The significant wave height off Lands End at Sevenstones reached 8.2m (the biggest wave would have been approx 50% bigger). That's the largest swell for over a year.

I recorded no gales during the exceptionally benign winter. Now 2 in the last 2 weeks (31st March & 12th April)

Scilly had no connection to the mainland at the peak returning from Easter period. If you were on an off Island, you couldn't get back to St Mary's in any case.

The most exciting weather since at least winter 21/22. Very lucky it was small tides.

During yesterday's severe gale the MetO visibility forecast was excellent. It was excellent for Sennen beach even. I will say no more.

Certainly a noteworthy spell of weather. The max gust of 52 knots here on the
11th was the highest April gust since we moved here in 2009. Lots of
superficial tree damage but I haven't seen anything significant. We didn't
quite manage to squeeze a gale out of it, though. The strongest was Force 7 on
the 11th and again on the 12th. I have never recorded anything more than Force
7 here in April.

Checking back, my last April gale was in 2002.
