That would be the cultured meat outfits, currently running at not
much above the cost of animal meat down from several thousand times the
cost. The last news I heard was that some of them have managed to eliminate
animal products from the feed stock for the cultured meat - which I goove
makes it pretty close to being vegan meat (just the starter cells to worry
about and that's homeopathic quantities by now unless they need refreshing).

There was a first-century sect that claimed Jesus and his followers
were vegetarians and the locust thing with JtB was really locust
beans. I'm not quite sure how they got around stories of Jesus'
cooking of fish on the shores of Galilee or indeed the feeding of the
five thousand (ultra-processed wheat-based fish-cakes, anyone?) but
they were denounced as heretics and probably all slaughtered so it
doesn't really matter now.

When the writers of the time wrote of locusts (plague of Egypt, John
the Baptist etc) they tended to use one type of word and when they
wrote of the fruit of the Carob Tree (prodigal son etc) they used
another which was translated differently into English.

Most suet-based puddings are high grain content. White pudding is 2
parts oatmeal to 1 part chopped suet, chopped On!on, salt, (sometimes)
pepper or other spice. Sweet pudding is the same proportions of suet and
oatmeal, raisins, sultanas and peel.

Black pudding contains differing proportions of just about everything
depending on what part of the country it comes from. Also ingredients
therein.

As far as I can tell, the unique ingredient that makes it Black Pudding
is blood. Veggie versions tend to replace the blood with beetroot.

<Lance Percival> And if you like beetroot I'll be true to you. </Percy>

Recently, beetroot has been fingered as the new superfood.

In this argument what does it does it matter whether the water to wine
was or was not incoholic, as JC and the other guests had already drank
his host dry of incoholic wine. The wine had to be incoholic as
fermentation is the only way of preserving the grapes which would have
otherwise gone orff. You would not drink the water.

Never actually tried one.

Had one land on me one morning while sitting eating breakfast in the
courtyard of a Greek pension. For two days previously we had had a
Sirocco blowing, very hot, uncomfortable and smelly. That morning had
dawned clear, bright and comfortable.

The first I knew about it was everyone clearing away from me although I
had heard its wing beat. It was too beautiful to eat, although I did
pick it up and pretend that I was going to eat it.

British grass hoppers are too small to make a meal of.

Small beer was usually around 1% - no idea how effective it was,
research needed, gizza grant.

IIRC to make beer (small or large) you boil malted barley in water to
extract the fermentable sugars prior to fermentation.

Was it possibly boiling the water that made beer better to drink than
raw water?

After the first bottle, who cares?. Someone did research on building
workers in the UK back around 1800. They were allowed a lot of beer
every day. I knew west of ireland building workers in around 1960 or so,
who would drink a bottle of poteen during the day. Water was almost
guarenteed to kill you, see the stories of why the London sewedge pipes
were installed.

Yes - and AIUI the alcohol helped keep it that way.

I like it muchly. Put some in jars the day before yesterday and added
some carefully considered herbs and spices* and strong vinegar. Left in
hot place to distribute the flavours. Carer came and moved the jars.
"Oy! Sez I, I need those there."

"I'll put them back when I've finished." sez she.

Needless to say she didn't , and in the morning the next carer to come
had to clean-up a pile of beetroot, vinegar, spices and glass from the
floor.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

* Cloves, piri piri spices, black peppercorns, mace blades and a few
fragments of cinnamon bark, thyme, sage and bay leaves.
