I had a go on a 790 Duke (I think!) a few months back. Quite liked it,
but it's a universe away from the 1290 SuperDuke that I test rode a
few years ago. Both v. fun in their own ways.

Our mate Nath has the 790 Duke, a lot of fun and jolly quick in the tight stuff.
That bike in Mark's photo is the later 890 Duke, even better.

I had the 890 R on order for a few months (1) before things went pete tong, been and gone unfortunately. 166kg of almost perfect motorcycle. Feels as quick through the areas we ride as the 1290 but 30kg lighter, even better suspension, just work a little harder for your lunch (what I was seeking, for change).

Recommend folk spend (at least) a week riding a Gen #3 1290 before they sign orf.

I think, but I'm not certain, that the reviewer was slightly biased
toward liking that bike.

The top riders are selling their 890s already, in anticipation of the
next generation bike.

The 790 is more than enough for me, I am sorely tempted. Anyone wanna
buy a bike or three?

Dave's 790 looks like a steal, especially with the spare wheels.

There is going to be a parallel twin litre bike apparently, but I doubt it will weigh 166kg and be so lithe and nimble. The 890 seems like a sweet spot, the step up is to the 1290 and why would you cut that market gap in half? Nicer to see the current Gen #3 as a fully faired sprotbike. I've held a few sets of plastics up to the last bike squinted.

The 790 has rather budget suspension.

Budget or not it's a world apart from a 1988 RD350 fitted with cartridge
emulators. The one I may or ay not be looking at has a Nitron rear fitted.
