Today I was finishing off soldering some of the first fix piping. Yesterday
I had completed the pipe work up to a lever operated isolator and had
pressurised that part of the pipework to flush and test for leaks.

Today I had a joint to make in the pipework beyond the isolator very close
to the boiler casing, so not to blister the paint with the flame I taped a
heat shield to protect the area at risk. Just as I finished the the
soldering the tape gave way and the heat shield plummeted down and as you
have probably worked out dislodged the convenient lever on the isolator
sending a fountain of water through all the joints prepared for soldering
and wrecking the one I had just soldered!!!!

I did manage to get it all fixed eventually but it involved a lot of
mopping up and even more industrial language.

Reminds me of a friend who had a town-house garage without water supply,
was forever working on his car, and had to go upstairs to wash his
hands. He decided to put in a small sink and ran the pipes from upstairs
down to the sink. He soldered all the joints and turned on the water.
One of the joints weeped, and required resoldering. At that time his
wife had sent their 6-years old son down "to see how daddy was doing".
At the exact moment the boy appeared at the top of the stairs my friend
suddenly realised he had forgotten to put a drain point in at the bottom
of the pipes. A very sheepish looking boy returned to his mother, who
said, "What's wrong?"
The boy replied, "I heard daddy say the F-word!"
