Following on from previous thread, one option seems to be a bedside LED
reading light.

The first few lights I looked at were rated at 10W and ~1,000 lumen.
This is rated at 11W and ~1,800 lumens.

This raises the question of what you should get in lumen out of an LED.

If you take the other examples which are roughly 100 lumen per Watt then
the Trond should be 1,100 lumen.

Is the vendor telling porkies?

Can anyone recommend a reading/work light on a tall stand which gives a
strong light?

[Will go back and look at the "value for money" thread.]

100 lm/W is a kind of line in the sand, below that are poor, above are
good, but typically you won't get too far above 100

absolute best are 200 lm/W, not so long ago that was "theoretical lab
samples" territory

Have any of the *gooseneck* flexures sagged?
I suppose the Led display is not as heavy as a conventional lamp plus
shade.

No. They are surprisingly strong and rigid. The lamp unit is light (in weight as well as in output). The only oddity with the product is that when you assemble it you thread the wire up through the sections of tube, then plug it into a little jack plug that protrudes out of the bottom of the swan neck section. This leaves about 25mm of wire to get rid of, and also means that as you're screwing the top bit on you're relying on the little jack socket and plug to swivel round, relative to each other. A test shows that they do this very easily however. The plug is extremely smooth and shiny. The 25mm of excess length with slowly disappear as you screw the top section on. It goes against the grain to twist a wire like this, but it seems to work OK.

Lumens per watt varies.
