it says in the small print at the end. I suppose that means it has USB-C
but you have to shove the Pencil into a Lightning adapter and charge it
sticking out the side...

(or perhaps a USB-C female to charge the pencil from a regular charger?)

I suppose that's because they didn't want to fit the Pencil v2 wireless
charging coil for cost reasons.

V.2 pencil support and the M1 chip seem to be the only significant differences
between the new iPad and the iPad Air. Not much for £170?

I think I'll give up any idea of getting a new iPad and/or iPhone! I
wonder how much I'll be charged for replacing the battery in my iPad

thingamajig of iPadOS16 either.
