Much fun going in circles round that lovely track. Still an average
rider but but did take a session of instruction.

Took a while to get my confidence to brake hard (ish) back up and the
10R's still a teeny bit abrupt on rolling open the throttle, so I was
a bit cautious on the power on slower corners.

I did try a mixed inters/advanced group the first evening for a couple
of sessions, but I was tired and not at my best and those fast guys
are FAST. And aggressive on the overtakes, too. One went round the
outside of me into the chicane, cutting across my bows and stealing my
line. He did have the decency to stick a leg out on the way to the
Mountain though.

It was blisteringly hot, but at least there was a steady breeze. On
day 1 I thought I was drinking enough, but had to come off track
prematurely in one afternoon session due to sudden multiple cramps -
left hamstring then a corner later, both hips. Agony. OK for the rest
of the afternoon.

Friday I drank enough to feel bloated and didn't have a problem.

Overnight was foggy every night, so the tent was absolutely soaked in
the morning. It was actually quite chilly the first night.

There was a classic racing group on track on Saturday (who knew that
SRAD GSXRs are classics?) , which I thought were racing, so I stayes a
while to watch. It turned out to be just a trackday, but those
two-strokes!

Hearing one being revved in the paddock to warm up, then another
giving a "Brrinnngg" in response, then the first answering, was like
listening to rival prehistoric animals challenging each other in the
morning mist.

The drive home went well initially, but a few miles north of
Peterborough, as I was braking for a roundabout, there was a thump and
brief screech of tyres. The car behind looked OK and wasn't acting
oddly, so I figured that the trailer brakes were playing up somehow.
It occurred a couple more times, so I was taking the braking very
carefully. Then, on the Peterborough ring-road (A15), I hit stop-start
traffic: two lanes into one. This, in the blistering sun, in a car
with broken aircon and towing a trailer that had developed grabby
brakes.

It turned out that they had completely closed the A15. I had roughly
three-quarters of an hour of stop-start queueing on the A15, off a
junction and into Peterborough itself, where I eventually found a
route out past the closure back onto the A15.

During that time, the traler problem magically cured itself. A poke
around underneath today shows not problems at all, though I haven't
taken the hubs off.
