SYNOP: 41162 82003 10139 20133 40092 57024 76166 8772/ 333 81702 87704 88457 91013Slight rain since 0530z, moderate at times. Extensive low stratus with a trace forming on Wenlock Edge. Thick medium layers above. Good visibility, moderate at times. Surface wind variable in direction currently due to the proximity of Wenlock Edge, but has generally been S F2-3 over the past three hours. Minimum temperature so far is 13.5 (0319z).

1600z: 23004KT 4000m Slight rain and drizzle 2ST002 8ST003 15.2/14.9 QFF 996.6 falling.
SYNOP: 41140 82304 10152 20149 49966 57048 75865 887// 333 82702 88704A grim wet day with persistent slight rain, with some lengthy moderate spells, and now accompanied by drizzle. Extensive stratus throughout the day, the base has risen at times to partially reveal the lower slopes of the south Shropshire hills. Long periods of moderate visibility, with occasional improvements to good, but becoming poor over the past hour. Surface wind direction has been very variable as the flow is comping over Wenlock Edge - mean speeds have been around F2-3 but there have been some gusty spells earlier on during the periods of lighter precipitation, with the highest gust (25 knots) recorded at 1300z. Maximum temperature so far is 15.2 (1557z) but for most of the day it has hovered around 13-14, so well below average.
