Could you please advise why I should help you when you do nothing but
denigrate my character and abuse me at any point you can. I suggest you
take it into a computer shop and pay someone to fix it.

If you don't want to do that then reformat it and start again.

That's two solutions to your problem.

that's very poor advice. no reputable computer tech would advise a

:)

it will be interesting to see if anyone can solve it. it's a common
problem apparently, but none of the fixes I've tried have worked so far.
I suspect a file on the computer is corrupt or missing, but for some
reason is not being identified or reported as such by windows or any of
the software fixes for the issue. so presently I have to connect the
phone to the backup PC and transfer pics to a USB stick, then plug that
into the main PC and transfer the files that way.

Don't you have a WiFi network at home? A lan? I have had a LAN here for
decades. ATM I use TP Link TL MR3020 units as WiFi extenders/bridges.
Works well. I have tried all the others, the TP Link unit is the most
reliable.

Well for one I can see you have malware on your system just for a start.

Probably because the malware on your system may have installed incorrect
drivers whilst pretending to update it.

so presently I have to connect the

Apart from xeno's bullshit response where he offered no help at all
other than to hang more shit on people you got offered 3 solutions.
Keith's was to charge you for his expertise, mine offered solutions that
would work.
Perhaps you should check the machine for bugs. Use malwarebytes and see
what it finds.

it was called, but I will stick a dongle in the PC and try to find it on
playstore. thanks!  :)
