Spam. These 'solutions manual' spams are across a lot of groups.

I don't really understand why - it's not like Usenet is full of impoverised
students eager to buy knockoff textbooks. My best guess is there's either
some spammer toolbox that has a Usenet option and spammers leave it ticked,
or a bot that was designed to send spam in the 90s and has remained
operational in a dusty corner somewhere.

(or, I suppose, Google ranking spam for when posts show up on web Usenet
gateways. Although that would take a surprising amount of premeditation on
the part of the spammers)

I've always wondered if it's signals to sleeper agents. It's doubtless
just dumbass spammers though.
