Sounds like you've got plenty of grip so there will soon be an
explosion. Get the tissues ready.

Well, at the last service they rotated all the wheels as usual, and
there was no comment about the tyres.

same experience I had. I posted pics of weathered tyres on my car that
still had plenty of tread, and was told by someone here they'd explode
any minute. so I had them inspected and two tyre dealers and both said
they were ok, but to replace them before too long (or words to that
effect). I drove on them for another twelve months at which time the
tread was worn to the point that I considered I should replace them.

What happens if the tires "explode" on you? Can it be dangerous?

I don't understand this response.

I am asking a genuine question about what would happen if a tyre "blows
up" on you while you are driving.

What would happen?

Welcome to the club. Darren (aka Noddy, and his cronies) wishes that of
any interloper into what he sees as *his* domain. More so if said
interlopers dare call Darren out on his lies, and there has been a
multitude of lies from him over a span of at least two decades and more.
For instance, ask Darren about his *mythical* trade qualifications. More
pertinently, request *proof* from Darren about his myriad claims of
qualifications and business ownership. That'll make you flavour of the
month for sure. ;-)

tyres don't literally explode. they blow out from the weakest point,
causing almost instantaneous deflation of the tyre. it's a dangerous
event if it causes the driver to lose control of the vehicle, resulting
in an accident. so a blowout on a front tyre is more serious as they're
on the steering wheels. a blowout is a different scenario to a puncture.
punctures cause the tyre to deflate more slowly so they're less dangerous.

If it is a rear tyre that blows out, yes, you could do that - but
gently. Slamming on the brakes is never a good thing in the event of any
blowout. If the front tyre blows out, it negates the effect of the tyres
grip on that side. That means you have only one effective brake on the
front and it is on one side. Guess what that might do to your steering.
In most cases, in the event of a blowout on the front, or rear, best to
coast to a halt. If possible.
Most FWD cars now have diagonal split braking. To allow for the
possibility of only one front brake working, manufacturers have changed
the steering and suspension significantly. The most significant of the
changes is to the scrub radius. Whereas cars once had a positive scrub
radius, that would cause the steering to pull violently to the side of
the working brake, not good. Same applied in the case of the blowout,
you would effectively only have one *effective* brake. Changing the
suspension to negative scrub radius fixes that issue the a great degree.
Negative scrub radius isn't a new thing by any means - I was teaching
this stuff to motor mechanic apprentices nearly 40 years ago.

https://www.racingaspirations.com/scrub-radius/

BTW, the above is why you don't change road wheel dimensions willy
nilly. You can be in a world of pain if your changes have too much
effect on wheel offset because offset changes directly affect scrub radius.
