Thought I'd kick off a trivial fluff thread. Whats everyones opinion on the
best looking new EMU class? Mine is the 397 Nova 2 followed by the 745 either
though I've yet to travel on either.

I agree on both counts. I've used 745s a fair amount (and also 755) and they're
good trains to travel on.

Portillo was on in one of his recent railway journeys. Looked nice inside too.

Best EMU for me, from an aesthetic perspective, was the New York City
Subway's R-10 with its art deco interior.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R10_(New_York_City_Subway_car)

The R-15 was also pretty, with its circular windows on the passenger
doors, but still for me it is the R-10.

Haven’t seen any of the latest ones in the flesh * so can only go by photos
bit comfess I’m mot a great lover of sloping noses. For almost new I
quite like the S Stock of LUL.

* Actually I have seen some examples in various forms of completeness
coming in to the docks at Southampton but you can’t really get a good
impression from a covered over body shell.

NYC subway vehicles are very utilitarian looking IMO. They do the job with
little to no design, just a box on wheels. Though there is a bit of a steampunk
vibe going on with the front of that thing!

I'm not sure if those qualify as either 'best looking' or 'new EMUs' in uk.railway.

NewsTap breaks these URLs (it assumes the closing bracket isn't part of the
URL) unless they're placed within <>s.

Luckily Wikipedia has gained some intelligence recently and offers the
correct URL as a "Did you mean..." option at the top of the 'not found'
error page.

No, the newsreader keeps continuing as normal, the URLs don't cause it to
cease functioning.

No, it just fails to include the closing bracket as part of the link. I
should check the relevant documents to see if that’s in any way expected
but I can’t just at the moment.

AFAICT a closing parenthesis isn’t an unsafe character in a URL encoding so
I can’t see a valid reason for NewsTap to omit it from the URL.

The URL in question, posted 'bare', loses a single character, the trailing
")". Posted between <>s it would retain that character and link to the
correct web page.
