I saw a nondescript car last Sunday with tinted windows parked on a
nature strip. The rising sun lit up its interior. Inside was a
battery of cameras pointing out the back window, possibly in readiness
to catch drivers using mobile phones. Cameras would be needed to
catch the driver and the number plate together, and the cameras would
be polarizing (reflections), HDR (contrast reducing), high speed
focusing, and god knows what else.
Watch it.

Always get suspicious of cars parked on the nature strip whether
nondescript or not. Cops in Victoria used to use a decrepit old car
painted up hippie style and parked under an overpass on the Eastern
Freeway in Melbourne - parked as if broken down or abandoned. This was
20 years ago and more.

The swine! This car was parked in Dynon Rd, a busy thoroughfare
connecting the Western suburbs to the city.

I always used Footscray Road when travelling out to Sunshine Tech. Not
as busy outbound in the morning and inbound in the arvo whereas Dynon
Road seemed busy in both directions all the time. And that was in the
80s. Don't even want to think about the traffic density in that area now.

That camera car would likely be one that can record different speeds
over multiple lanes simultaneously. A lot of the intersection cameras
can already do that. Very flexible little buggers they are!
