A woman was arrested on suspicion of a string of motoring offences after a cyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash in Hadleigh.

Police were called to the incident in the Woodfield Road area on July 10 at about 9.45am. Police say the cyclist was hit by a car.

Officers also say a 32 year old woman from Benfleet was arrested in connection with a host of offences and released under investigation.

A spokesman for Essex Police Castle Point District Team said: “A 32 year old woman from Benfleet was arrested on Thursday August 25 in relation to an incident that occurred in Hadleigh on July 10 whereby a pedal cycle was struck by the driver of a vehicle at the junction of Woodfield Road in Hadleigh resulting in the rider sustaining serious injuries.

“This occurred around 9.45am in the morning. The woman was arrested on suspicion of causing injury through careless and or inconsiderate driving, along with failing to stop at the scene of an accident, reporting an accident, failing to provide details of the driver when required to do so and perverting the course of justice.
