At least I know it isn’t just me not listening anymore; I have hears others
comment along the same line as my own feelings - so I don’t think it is
just me!

being upset verily by some episodes and I started to think along the lines

The only time I stopped listening was during the Rob era. I disliked
that story line and found it unpleasant to listen to, and disliked how
it began to develop.
