Wow. That brings back memories. There used to be a shop in Brunswick
here in Melbourne that had a very similar track and I used to go every
Friday night when I could. Great fun.

I used to have a decent Scaletrix setup on our dining room table for the
Grandkids to play with but when we moved house no one wanted it so it
all went in the bin.

Used to be at the Royal Park end of Brunswick road if I remember right.
Their track was massive and had around 8 or 10 lanes. It was grouse.

Yeah, it's funny. I tried to get my kid into it years ago, but the Xbox
was way more fun as far as he was concerned. I ended up playing with it
for a while but doing so on your own got old and it ended up getting
thrown out.

I can think of plenty of people who would have been happy to have it or
even pay for it.

Why bin stuff that could easily have a second life?

My dear old uncle had such a setup in his living room, a large board
with tracks all over. He would have "racing parties" with the guests
competing with various little cars. The big board was meant to be
horizontal but as the evening progressed handicaps were introduced by
means of elevating the tracks to make the little cars work harder.
Indeed this progressed to weighting the cars with a
buckshot/Plasticine mixture. The cars would often fly off the board
and hit various items of furniture and empty beer bottles. Lots of
fun and lots of booze. Of course he's gone to his deserts now, along
with his feral sons. Still I miss the good old Green-free days!
