Dear friends,

Just to let you know that I'm still in hospital. I'll spare you the
grisly details, but I had new, terrible pain on Thursday, was brought in
by ambulance and can't go home until it's properly controlled, which
involves close monitoring and adjustment. I'll be here for another
couple of days at least. Things are already a good deal better than when
I came in, though (or I wouldn't be writing this!).

Chemotherapy is now off the agenda. I've been scanned again and it's
clear that mine is a cancer which is unaffected by chemo, so it's
symptom control only from here on in - probably a couple of months at
most. I am at least in excellent hands and am being very well looked after.

Thanks for all the lovely messages, which mean a lot.
