That's it! M & C have often mentioned him before and I thought they
might be interested. It's certainly an aspect of his life I hadn't
known about before.

I haven't read your link (the Grauniad always nags me when I go there) but
I was aware he had a pub at one point, and also gathered, recently, that he
no longer does.

Yes Peter White. He did once live in a pub but can’t remember if it was a
tenant or owned. His first wofe was sighted. Can’t remember even how many
years ago it was even. Sadly that wofe passed away some years ago and his
second wofe, also sighted, comes from the Manchester area: they met when he
was doing the Y & Y broadcasts. After he married, he moved from Winchester
to zSalford or wherever and now “In Touch” is also based there.

Ah when his several offsprung were grown up. I didn’t re-read that. I’ve
heard him talk about it, and many eons ago I saw Peter pull a pint, not for
me either. It was in the 1990s and the first time the public were taught
by an exhibition that we can live and work independently. There were two
or three rooms built with no windows and Joe Public walked around and used
their hands to locate various objects denoting a room. Can’t remember
exact details but the final was the bar area. It’s title was “Dialogue in
the Dark”, out of which has come the eateries where the public is
blindfolded on arrival and all the serving staff are blind. It’s an
international thing now.

I haven’t been to the London one but at least one of my totally blind
friends has with her sighted partner but she might have been doing it in
part for her then job working for a now defunct organisation for the blind
which used to help us get into work. I also know a young blind student who
was doing it as a fill in job between getting a degree here and deciding
whether to start a PhD: she’ll only now be able go home to see her family.
My close friends are going now or have managed to get back under emergency
family arrangements last year.

He used to do Fridays, maybe Thursdays. Now Y and Y is three days a week
old school, Thursday’s is a pretender, “Gap Finders” and they don’t have a
Friday slot at all.
