Again, this is a public forum. If you don't like public discussion,
email Trevor. Otherwise you get to suck it up princess.

Of course you don't have to take sound advice from me, just keep fucking

are simply words without meaning to him. The additional fact that he's an
idiot doesn't help either.

Great for fine work where you need both hands free and lots of light.

I've had one of those on the wall in my tool room for some time, as my
eyesight isn't what it used to be and I need to use it for drill and
cutter sharpening:

I don't use it while I'm sharpening, but I certainly do to check the
cutting edges when I'm finished. It came in handy when soldering the
wires back onto the record player cartridge.

Speaking of the cartridge, whoever soldered the wires on before did a
shit of a job which is why they broke off. It took a while to do it
properly as the only way I could do it was to dismantle the machine and
withdraw the wires from the arm and then feed it all back in and put the
machine back together after I'd finished.

I added some shrinkwrap to the wires to give them a little support as
they are extremely fragile:

All working well with it's new stylus finally, and the kid is very happy.

Pain in the arse job, and I have a whole new respect for what Trevor
does for a living. I'm also inclined to agree with his assessment that
the Garrard 3500 turntable is a piece of shit.

as I've already said tone arm wires are connected to the cartridge by
slide on connectors. https://auslink.info/pics/image1.jpg

professionals would never solder onto cartridge terminals. also it's
very rare that tone arm wires ever need to be removed.

You *don't* solder the wires to the cartridge and that heatshrink is
doing nothing to support that wire.

Fuck you're a rough cunt.

once the tone arm wires are connected to the cartridge they require no
support, as there's no movement of the wires at that point.  it looks
like he made a neat job of it, but he did it wrongly of course. he
should have soldered connectors to the tone arm wires, as I've been
saying, and as illustrated here .. https://auslink.info/pics/image1.jpg
now if he ever has to replace the cartridge, he has to desolder the
terminals, a task made more difficult because he heat shrinked them.
