Here in the Countryside where they are quite stealthy but easy to find if
you really want to
seeing a roadkill one is rare, the ones that seem to be hit more often are
cubs so perhaps they were following a parent or sibling .
You do see a lot of Badgers and TBH I think some were not alive when they
were hit.
Being a protected species their numbers have recovered well over recent
decades and when one visits can do a lot of damage to a garden plus for
cattle farmers there is the TB issue. Nobody unauthorised can legally touch
them but if you despatch one with a shotgun or rifle disposing of the
carcass by putting it by the side of a road where it will get hit
repeatedly and look like it was killed that way is a practice known to
take place.
Had the regular one pass through the garden about 4am according to the
trail camera but fortunately it just digs through the compost pile for
worms etc, quite useful as it saves me turning it over.

Entirely irrelevant as you well know. Cultural cohesion and shared values
matters a lot more than people like you think. The fact you don't understand
that suggests perhaps you're somewhere on the autistic spectrum.

Thats before we get onto public services struggling. Go into any london
hospital A&E and see how often you hear english spoken amongst the people
waiting there. And no, a few doctors from Egypt or wherever does NOT make up
for it.

5 million people rocking up in the last 20 years might not be an invasion
but its pretty damn close.

Probably only if they were misgendered post mortem.

In message <uuhk8h$3c94o$2@dont-email.me>, at 20:54:08 on Tue, 2 Apr
2024, Bob <bob@domain.com> remarked:

>When I lived in the Look East area, it was sometimes quite comical how
>the 18.30 Look East 30 minute slot frequently had to be padded simply
>because nothing much of interest had happened. I recall one occasion
>where they interviewed an older lady because she had decided to move to
>Australia because since she retired, she wanted to be near to her
>daughter and grandkids. That was the extent of the story.

I used to parody 'Look East' with "Breaking news: this morning a man in
Norwich stubbed his toe".

On a more serious note, we recorded a piece about online threats, at
home with a film crew and director/interviewer (I don't think I'd go as
far as to call him a "reporter") for East Midlands local news.

We asked when it was going to be aired, and he said "probably never".
"We just tour around doing non time-critical fillers for them to show on
slow news days. Yesterday we were at a pig farm with a farmer who are
never short of things to complain about." [It's too wet, too dry, too
hot, too cold...]

I think it did eventually get aired as an intro, to a by then vaguely
topical piece, on national BBC Breakfast.

They need camera crews on standby, in case an airplane crashes into the
centre of Nottingham (or whatever), and it doesn't cost much more for
them to keep busy doing these interviews, rather than sitting in the
canteen drinking tea.

I get frustrated when so many people miss the brief, even after I've

Which goes some way to why the police can only spend ten minutes
investigating the theft of a £50 mountain bike. And why they've long had
an approximately £5k threshold (might be more now) on investigating any
form of fraud perpetrated against members of the public.

The police deciding not to be bothered to investigate an alleged £600m
incident would quite rightly become a big news story of its own.

I’m not convinced that you originally asked about a 24x7 Scottish news
service, just a separate news service. The 24x7 qualification crept in
later.

We have a rural otter here. I have video of it culling a gull.

I saw one in the loch and was not sure so asked a friend and she said
has seen otters crossing the dual-carriageway in the centre of town..
Also a few years ago some young ones were found abandoned and taken to a
sanctuary.

The "Main BBC News" broadcasts all day long, no just one slot.

Im afraid “main BBC News” to me means their 1830 and 2100 BBC One
broadcasts. They are the ones with the highest viewing figures. I think you
perhaps ought have asked if Scotland had its own BBC News *channel* if that
is what you meant.

Are there any viewing figures for BBC Scotland programmes freely
available i.e. not just BARB subscribers?

The 21:00h bulletin is hardly relevant, I think it is a short reading of
headlines in between programmes so most 'viewers' are just waiting for
the next programme. I have 'seen' it many times but never 'watched ' it.

But some tend to manipulate figures, hence the claim it has the highest
viewing figures.

No, it's an hour-long programme, four nights a week, described as, "All the
national, UK-wide and international news that matters to you, plus weather,
entertainment news and sport."

I did of course mean the 2200 BBC One news broadcast, not 2100.
