Progressing my overheating problem.

I'm about to remove, clean and refit my stock cooler but I am wondering if
a slightly more beefy cooler might help.

A quick search turns up
<https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Hyper-Black-Cooling-System/dp/B07H9HJLG5>
which seems compatible with the socket.

Howver the same page lists the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO V2 for £1 more.
I've currently not worked out what the Evo has over the Black.

Anyway, anyone used one of these?

Any recommendations for an alternative?

If I'm going to be messsing about then a bit of extra cooling might help.

Although noting that the system has run for some years without apparent
overheating problems.
At least, after I cleaned all the cat detritus off it a few years back.

Cheers

The Hyper 212 is my standard cheap-but-fine cooler for custom builds. I
don't know the variations but some have LEDs in them, others don't, etc.
Probably the Black is just about the colour (the normal one is regular
aluminium), although they may vary the fan mechanisms.

As with all of this form factor, check you have enough case height for a
tall cooler, and check it's not going to foul any RAM sockets.

Noctua stuff is good, if pricier - the fans are very good (and available
separately). I think I used an Arctic when I needed a low profile AM4
cooler, and that was OK too.

Many thanks.

I did the preliminaries before removing the heat sink (going round the
case removing fluff etc.) then took the fan off the heat sink.

Ah!
[Oops!]

The area below the fan was completely clagged up.
This was not apparent looking down from the top.
I cleaned the fluff off and decided to refit the fan and test before
disturbing the heat sink.
Now running in the low 30s C with a low of 28 C and a high of 45 C.

So the stock cooler lives to fight another day.

Just as well I didn't order another cooler!

Now have added a note to check my other (not running at the moment) PC to
see if that has similar issues as I last cleaned them both at the same
time.

Cheers

I've got one cooling a quad core Xeon E3-1245v3, no idea what variation it is,
but from a quick glimpse through the case, it's bare aluminium, no LEDs, has
been fine for years ...
