Useless because it does not qualify for an iCloud-account with
E2E-encyption. I had to decommission my iPad mini 4 because of that.

I can connect to my iCloud with my iPad mini 2, I just tested it.
Even if you can't use iCloud there is a lot you can do on the
iPad without it; e.g. Maps; Safari; TV remote; Kindle books;
many other third party apps. Hardly useless!

use… no apps will download as iOS is too old… it won’t remember the wifi
login…

Probably not very useful these days.

Then you have not switched to E2E-encryption which was introduced with
iOS 16 not long ago. iOS-devices not being able to be updated to iOS 16
are excluded. I guess you do not understand what I'm talking about.

They got wise to that unfortunately, and started limiting by generation. My
iPad gen 1 for instance.

For me it’s still useful as a controller for a Behringer Deep Mind 12
synth, but I accept that’s somewhat specialised. Plus it is the last place
I have Bejeweled 2 and Bookworm installed...

of installing apps that you can't do via the app store.

It could be useful as a trade-in. Curry's ocassionally do a deal where
they'll give a big discount even if the thing doesn't work.

My original iPad is still in top condition (and will play a video for
about 6 hours!) Haven't tried jailbreaking but might if I get bored...
