Like many M$ Mac products of that era (and maybe even now), all gloss
but with no substance. Anyway I eventually remembered using
MT-Newswatcher.

I used to love MT Newswatcher. I used it for years and years and was so sad
when it had to be dropped. Usenapp is pretty damned good though.

MT-NW was and still is an excellent client but sadly developement stopped many
years ago. I don't think there's even a native Intel version? IMO Usenapp is
the best modern Mac client there is.

Yes, I agree, and it is being actively developed and just keeps getting
better, so - no real repining here. Just a vague feeling of nostalgia :)

The time I spent downloading usenet binaries on a phone line! Two days for
low-res copy of a tv show (Buffy) and then creating VCDs that I could share
with people. Ah... youth!

I did suggest André if he had plans to develop an iOS / iPadOS version.
There’s only really NewsTap which works adequately on those platforms.
Incidentally NewsTap will also run on Silicon Macs.

Is that on the forum somewhere? I might add my vote to that. I use Newsrap but
don't really enjoy it.

Just checked - it was Alain (with an ‘i’) who made the request and I was
one of those who liked it. I’m clearly getting confused in my aging years!
Anyway I would most definitely welcome a version of Usenapp for iOS and
IPadOS.

No, I haven't. But it's dead easy to use; much better to experiment with the
different possibilities until you get the hang of it.

I've settled on a setup with which I'm completely comfortable; it's not unlike
MacSOUP, but of course there are many differences.

Best to email me if you do have serious difficulty, but I don't think you
will.

Sadly André is not able to commit to a i-version at the moment. But at
