He is. And he says Reddit "has not seen any significant revenue impact
so far", but if - as suspected - he's got he eye on an IPO then he
would, wouldn't he, regardless of the truth.

This is REALLY disengenious: "I am sorry to say this, but please be
mindful of wearing Reddit gear in public. Some folks are really upset,
and we don't want you to be the object of their frustrations." Painting
himself/Reddit as the victims.

I've been bumbling along with the official app. Not ideal... Found the
Comet app last night. Still works (for whatever reason) and seems
better than the official app. There are a couple of others (Dystopia
and Narwal) but I havent tried those. I find Reddit too useful to give
it up complately!

Narwhal I’ve had for ages, before Apollo. Switched back to it and it’s
fine - leaps and bounds above the official, though obviously not as
full-featured as Apollo was.

The dev is saying there’s a big 2.0 release soon, and I’m hoping after a
small exchange of posts that they might make it a bit more left-hander
friendly too. But...not too bad at all to be honest.

etc? I see that the Narwhal developer has been discussing this in a Reddit

Intrigued by all this talk of other Reddit alternatives, I’ve setup a new
Reddit account and installed Narwhal and Comet. Yes they both seem
reasonably easy to use and prefer them to the official app. My new user
name is ………. no I think I’ll keep that secret!

Yes, possibly. I don't think the new API pricing has actually kicked in
yet (could be wrong about this), so when it does they may go bye-bye.

Narwhal 2.0 will be subscription-based apparently. But I kind of see this as
“money where your mouth is” from my perspective. I hate adverts. If I
want to use something primarily funded by advertising but I don’t want to
see the adverts....I’m a freeloader effectively. So the subscription idea
isn’t poison to me, although depends on the price of that subscription of
course as to whether I bite.
