Apple pricing well sort of.

Just pointing out that in the US Apple Store you can buy a Mac Studio
with zero percent interest over 1 year, whereas in the UK it's a bargain
14.9% over two years, thanks to the 'deal' done with Barclays.

The card holder that Apple partnered with in the US is currently
attempting to get out of the contract due to not making enough money.
Coincidence?

It's weird that you can get 0% on phones but not Macs.

not really, since phones have ongoing costs (for the cellular service)
which cover the finance fees via agreements between the carriers and
apple (or other phone maker).

you're paying one way or another.

I can get a 0% interest phone then get a PAYG SIM so that doesn't seem
entirely accurate.

How? I get my phone SIM free from Apple and then get 30-day rolling
contract with a provider who has no interest in what phone I use. There's
no way Barclays (in UK) can recoup anything from me.

> you're paying one way or another.

Seems very unlikely.

if you're getting the phone (or anything) from apple, you're paying
full price.

the carriers offer discounts, sometimes as little as 'free', except you
have to sign up for a contract or some other commitment, which folds
the discount into the payments.

> > you're paying one way or another.

quite the opposite. it would be fiscally foolish to discount something
for no reason.
