Not just his batting. He is one of the Headingley race bullies and he
still needs to do better. He sounds like a condescending shitbag to me

Well the modern equivalent is a twitter storm.

No one else has replied, and i only know what i read in the media, but I would
say that Yorkshire CCC have an even bigger problem as their biggest
sponsors abandon them.

As i understand it, Ballance and Azeem were best mates in their early careers, and
the media says he admits to calling him a P^^i. I believe that means Pure in Urdu
but it has come to be used as abusive term in the UK. Root was also starting in the
yorkshire team about the same time and may have played in the same teams as Azeem,
and perhaps other england players did as well such as Plunket and Bresnan. Jason
Gillespie was coach 2011-16, which partly corresponds to the time when Azeem
was in the team, he'd also played for them 2007-08. I wonder what they think of
playing/coaching at a club that is now branded as institutionally racist by a former
player.

I think Azeem was rehired by the club in 2016 and then let go again in 2018. His
allegations concern his first period at the club from 2007-14. I think Andrew
Gale was captain 2009-14 and is now the coach. It must have been a very
difficult decision for Azeem to go back to a workplace where he had been so
abused and where presumably his tormenters still worked.
