Er....Rafiq did not immediately apologise. but went to check that the posts were his. It is a little difficult to believe that Rafiq was unaware he had mad anti-Semitic posts in the past so presumably he went to check the posts to see if he could plausibly deny they were his. RH

A professional sportsperson who's primary source of income is based on sponsorship $$$ (either directly, or through TV rights)? Yes. That's just how it works.

If someone said something really offensive years ago their career is not necessarily doomed. They can save things. Starting with an apology is a good first step.

Early reports of Rafiq's antisemitic Tweets said he had deleted them.
That was days before the story hit the media recently and then Rafiq
stated he couldn't remember sending them.

He claims to have subsequently checked, found them and deleted them.

I wouldn't trust a word he says unless there was supporting proof.

What isn't in doubt is that he made a series of hate-filled
antisemitic slurs. There's also no doubt about his hypocrisy. Rafiq
should undergo "Unconscious Bias Training" to rid his mind of racist
thoughts.

If Andrew Gale was investigated for allegedly calling Paul Dews a
"yid" then why isn't Azeem Rafiq being investigated for his written
hate-filled antisemitic slurs which he admits to making?
