1st Session

Pommies win the session easily. Australia has gone back to form in its middle order with Head and Green failing. Throw in Harris and we have 3 that match their Pommy counterparts.

Still, England bowled better, much fuller, and once again Stokes bent his back.

Will Australia manage 400? I think England may be in batting before tea

I don't know why you continue to talk down Australia's performance/s. I'd take their position 100 times out of 100.

hang on, Head was MoM for 1 of the most spectacular ashes 100s ever in the last test
although I did enjoy him doing the splits against root. but after tea/happy hour it was
all OZ.

I thought they bowled a bit too short like yesterday.

Carey played a sensible innings, if he had gone, SS would have been left
with the tail, might have been different to what happened later when the
bowlers/fielders were tired and Neser and Starc smashed it.

England look like a side short of match practice, not really ready
to play a 5 test series anywhere let alone oz. And they dont seem
to be reading the pitch well. Stokes 'tomorrow will be a good day
for batting, once you're in its difficult to get out' [words I hope he
wont regret] and Smith 'batting on this is really tough' shows the
difference.

England need a miracle again if they are to avoid defeat.

England has more Test experience this year then Australia

Yes, but the problem is a shortage of match practice in Australian
conditions, due to a combination of Covid restrictions and then wet
weather in Brisbane prior to the first Test.

It's remarkable how closely the first two innings of this match have
paralleled innings two and three at Brisbane, with big stands by
Warner/Lambuschagne and Malan/Root, followed by an England collapse.

The trouble with that is that only 4 of the England line-up managed to
get in, and one of those (Stokes himself) got out having a hit before he
ran out of partners.

They will probably need Malan and Root to put on about 350 together
instead of 150.
