it was under lights so he thought he was at a t20

probably buttler should be rotated or whatever euphemism england currently
use, and dropped for the next test for his own good. dropping marnus seem
to give him severe psychological trauma. not good to see.

Buttler is one of our best players. He always plays for the team whatever his own personal situation and is tough mentally. His Test average is lower than it should be because he either follows a collapse or has to swing to get quick runs.
I see you didn't mention the two "worldy" catches possibly one the best ever taken by a wicket keeper !

thats becos i wrote that on 18th and the catch that got smith in the 2nd hadnt happened yet [he
did drop an easier 1 just before that].

but i take it all back, buttlers wonderful, and probably will b our next captain, should
Root decide hes had enough after this series, and who could blame him?

It looks likely that Pope will now be dropped, which would probably mean
Bairstow coming into the side. If he does, then there's a strong case
for him taking the gloves. Buttler has taken some excellent catches in
this series, but he's also missed too many straightforward ones. I think
his confidence as keeper must be pretty low at present.
