I'm glad you finally agree CC is crap.

Here's a non-racist way of fixing CC;
1. Listen to former English coaches - pitches need to be improved to promote genuinely FAST bowling. My words - no more over-after-over-after-over of medium pace trundlers. I believe this is happening, but I'm not sure how quickly. Regardless, a change like this might be generational.
2. More spin. They face ~twice as much spin in Tests as CC
3. Fewer but more intense games. In 2020/21 the top Australian SS batsmen played ~14 innings each. CC batsmen played ~25 innings each. CC is *soft*, backyard cricket. That's why they can play so much.

Does anyone think Ollie Pope's 2021 average of 76.80 in CC is a good indication of his Test quality?

I still like my idea of a 6 team Lions comp that sits above/beside CC. Age limited to 23 (with maybe a few up to 26), England qualified only.

I assume this is one of those threads in which the moron preaches his
"foreigners out" gospel. One of the fun things to consider in that
regard is that nearly 40% of English amateur cricketers have brown
skin, so restricting the counties to English-born players would result
in a significant increase in brown-skinned players in f-c cricket.

e rot set in way back in 1969 when the qualification rules for county cricket were relaxed . Until then to play county cricket you either had to be born in a first class county (which allowed a player to play for their county of birth ) or serve a two year residency in a county
(which allowed you to play for that county but no other.).

The 1969 change included provision for foreign players to play in county cricket without having to qualify. The foreigners flooded in. and one way or another have don't so ever since, There have been restrictions on the numbers but one way or another there have always large numbers of foreigners,

There were two other ill effects for English cricket . The foreign players tended to be predominately upper order batsmen and quick bowlers. This has meant that for these positions the shortage of English players was most acute.
The claim that foreigners "improve our game" has been bleated by apologists for foreign player for over 50 years and over those 50 years England has declined. The idiocy of allowing foreigners into county cricket can be seen by the fact that no other Test playing country allows huge numbers of foreign players into the domestic first class game or any foreigners at all.. The first thing Langland should do is ban all foreigners from the County Championship.

There are also serious problems with batting technique Attempts should be made to persuade batsmen to adopt orthodox stances and batsmen with the least unorthodox stances (eg Jake Libby of Worcestershire) given preference to them.
