I think I saw this problem the other day whilst browsing through a lot of
images. From Howard Oakley's eclecticlight.co website:

Browse a hundred or more JPEG images in a gallery view, making multiple
selections within them. This consumes memory and drives that being used by the
Finder inexorably higher, until it’s using several GB.

The workaround seems to be force quitting/relaunching Finder or even
rebooting.

I wonder if the problem will be solved in 14.2? I've deleted my 14.2 beta
volume set so can''t check at the moment yet but I'm not holding my breath!
