Does it not seem odd to you that she has just died at an early age due to a
heart problem and Elvis did as well?
Could this be genetic and in the family?

Certainly heart disease does run in families but Elvis wasn’t known for his
healthy lifestyle towards the end of his life. Sadly, I suspect the cause
of sudden death will turn out to be drug overdose.

Not so sure about that, I think we might have heard rumblings of this
earlier if she had been a user.

I am Scottish and have never had a deep fried mars bar.
I know of no-one who has had one.

Only time I have seen them is when they are being sold to tourists as
a novelty.

The sandwiches were bacon and banana (usually with the PB&J)then
fried in a pan (so not deep fried). No wonder he got so fat.

One day my coworker came up to me and said "Don Stockbauer, my twin girls were watching TV and they came running up to me saying "Mommy, mommy, there's a woman on TV and she's saying that she's a Man!!!!" My coworker went into the TV room and it was Boy George!!!!! I thought that was really funny!!!!!

I saw them on a chippy's price list once (Dingwall, I think). Even as a
nottascot, I didn't investigate further.

Maybe no-one's ever eaten one ?

Fried plantains are good. I vaguely unforget my Ma doing fried bananas
in cream. I'm not dead of them yet, but haven't had them since I was
Much Younger. I'm not even (very) fat (honest ...). Hmm. Mmm.

As a nottascot leftpondian living in Treznal, I have.

It was at a youth "workshop", where 13-16 year-olds had the opportunity to deep
fry a selection of foods in a batter themselves. I recall banana, onion, grated
carrot, (plus a bunch of odd stuff I have forgotten). Also: a variety of candy
bars.

So: Warm mostly melted chocolate in a crispy batter, initially hotter than
Hades. Nothing you couldn't imagine: one or two tenths of such bar might be
nice, a whole one is just too much of everything. Too sweet, to much of the same
thing, too sticky. Banana pieces in batter with a drizzle of honey was nicer,
though only enjoyable in small servings.

I think the trick is to keep the bars in a fridge or freezer pre-frying.

Oddly, the only place I’ve ever been offered one was on a trekking holiday
in Nepal.

Problem with deep fat frying anything is the leftover oil. Pour it down
the sink, and it forms a yukky lump in the sewedge system, which has to
be removed expensively.

One man here semi-solved the problem in private septic tanks by digging
out the ground around which acts as soakage, putting an old car in the
hole, and filling in. Sometimes, decades later, a new owner looks for a
grant for replacing the main concrete tank, and when The Government
Inspector sees the old car, the whole lot has to be fixed. Very E
xpensively. Be careful when seeking grants.

Oil doesn't lump, AFAIK... fat will.

I have on occasion deep fat fried. Used oil gets poured in a bucket with
sawdust, which soaks up the oil and burns well in a bonfire.

Dunno. Can you “see” yourself without a mirror or camera phone?

Use old frying oil to make bio-diesel. Local restaurants will
sometimes take it off your hands. Your local recycling center
possibly take it.

I have a 1 litre milk bottle outside the kitchen door for
used oil. When its full I take it to the recycler.

Stealing used deep fryer oil to sell for biodiesel is an
expanding trade.
