Indeed they are! I was at a wrecking yard in Sydney just before Covid
hit. Some of the cars there that were write-offs was just bizarre. Not a
lot of visible damage, must have been badly bent structurally. Or
needing lots and lots of *expensive* bits and pieces in order to effect
a repair.

I saw a Falcon in wrecker's yard with hardly any damage besides the
aluminium bullbar. But airbags and seltbelt tensioners had gone bang, so
there was thousands extra for repair bill.

Yes, those particular items are the *expensive bits* I was referring to
in my previous post. They are one-time items so, once they have gone off
- that's it, new ones needed. The steering wheel airbag alone can be $5k
on some cars.
