Does "disaster" have any established meaning in teaser-speak?
Maybe like something along the lines of a sunken soufflé?

If it was a day earlier it would mean that the turkey was still uncooked
in the middle or the sprouts had boiled dry, or an attempt to flambé the
pudding has set fire to the stables.

Not sure about Boxing Day though, there's generally nothing much that
can go wrong then, is there? The sherry has run out perhaps?

Sherry? Don't talk to me about sherry. The local Sainsbury's has
recently undergone a protracted elective rearrangement. The drinks section
is now tarted up something awful, with backlighting and pastel shades. But
the appalling thing, all I wanted was a bottle of bog standard own brand dry
sherry, and none in sight, not even an empty place whence it had all been taken.
Three or four types of cream sherry of various degree, but dry, zilch. There
was some ginger wine where it should be, but I just can't go that sweet, and
I've no whisky to dilute it. Was für ein Weihnachten!

Sainsbury's? Don't talk to me about Sainsbury's and wine. My localish
one - okay, not very localish right at this moment but you know what I
mean - seems to have reorganised the shelving to be more helpful. It
used to be divided red/white/other then country and type. I simply
can't work out where anything is now. I suspect it's along the lines
of breakfast/lunch/dinner or flavour 1-5 but is just about as useful
to me as sorting a shop full of books in order of colour.

Sainsbury's clearly know what their customers want - and it's sweet
sherry. They have no interest in serving dry sherry deviants like you!
