.... since the last time two England batsmen made centuries in the same
match. That was when Crawley made his 267.

so the pitch must be very flat if crawley made a ton ;)

becos of the rain today and the pitch it seems unlikely that england
can win this, but if they collapse tomorrow morning windies might be in
with a chance.

Not usually. They have only gone that long between occurrences three
times previously:

Up to Melbourne (5th Test) 1894/95 (46 Tests)
The Oval 1905 to Melbourne (2nd Test) 1911/12 (25 Tests)
Adelaide 1986/87 to Old Trafford 1989 (24 Tests)

I think WI have almost no chance as, even if England collapse, they
would need to score at a much faster rate than this pitch allows if you
bowl halfway decently. A better chance for them would be if England
declared leaving then a gettable target in the hope of winning. I can't
see that happening, though, as Collingwood and Root strike me as being
pretty cautious people.

England have a slightly better chance, but on this pitch - which I don't
think will suddenly become a minefield - would need some pretty
appalling WI batting.

The way yesterday that the BT comms kept on bigging up the chances of a
positive result was starting to rather annoy me by the end of the day's
play. Either they are extreme optimists or they must have been following
orders from on high in the hope of encouraging people to watch today's
play.

Crawley's return to form is particularly welcome because he rarely gets bogged down. RH

67 Tests since the last time at least 3 made centuries (Rajkot 2016/17,
when Root, Ali, Stokes and Cook all did so). Before that, we have to go
back a further 70 Tests to Brisbane 2010/11 (Strauss, Cook and Trott).

After the first occurrence (Lord's 1924, England's 140th Test - Hobbs,
Sutcliffe and Woolley), the longest gap was 115 Tests from Old Trafford
1990, when there were 4 England 100s (Gooch, Atherton, Smith and Lamb)
for the 2nd consecutive Test, to Old Trafford 2001 (Vaughan, Thorpe and
Trescothick).
