Well the Parakeets, crows and Magpies have started to fight for nest sites

Sparrows, dunnocks, finches, starlings and pied wagtails mostly
here (and crows of course but they can't get at the feeders). The swallows
aren't back from their winter holidays yet.

All my feeders (three six perch seed feeders and two nut feeders -
the fat balls are away until autumn now) are inside the frame of a
polycarbonate greenhouse which had all its twinwall blow away in a storm.
It now has green chainlink round the top and a plastic mesh on the ends
so nothing can get in unless it can negotiate a two inch hole or untie the
door flap. It also has a variety of climbing. fruiting plants for extra
feed in summer. In a few years it might even be pretty.

From time to time the crows come by and make a detailed inspection
looking for ways in, they've given up trying to lift the feeders through
the chainlink which is a pity because that was fun to watch, they can lift
a surprisingly large weight and pull hard on it.

It took a while to molish it completely crow proof, they'd given up
on it until winter made them hungry and then they found new ways in that
they didn't use in summer - it's now crow proof according to the winter
inspection committee.

Jackdaws often have a go at the fat-cake feeder, but nothing bigger than
that has tried it (other than squirrels).

We are blessed with lots of ratses wot appear after
a) barley harvest
b) wheat harvest
c) fodder bean harvest
d) sugar beet campaign

and all my feeders are too far from anything nearby for them to jump,
and which are hung on fencing wire with a steel disc or dome loosely
suspended thereon through a hole in te miggle so if they step on it they
slide off as it tilts. 's fun to warch them wrap their tails round the
wire so they can get to the edge of the disc only to find they can't
grasp the wire neither can they lift te contraptin and let it fall, nor
can they gnaw through the wire (though one offem tried, for several of days.

My pulse will be quickening
With each drop of strychnine
We feed to a pigeon
It just takes a smidgen
To poison a pigeon in the park

And then there are the Noddies (Terns).

And while we (well I) am on Terns there is always the Comic Turn.

I used to say, when I was doing trip boat commentaries on the
Basingstoke Canal, "Look, there is a tern flying above. They are always
in pairs, so there will be another one close by, because one good tern
deserves another!" The groans from the passenger deck could be heard
from the stern counter. (Not stern counter).

So this gooey was being harassed by Turns so he threw stones at them thus
leaving no turn unstoned.

Note my spelling is rubbish today.

They look nothing like mice, but then Hedgehogs don't really look like hogs
either.

Kind of reminds me about bird colouring. I don't recall which place it was,
but a guy told me that to keep the Flamingos pink they had to tip something
into their artificial lake. I think it was freshly caught pink fish.
I somehow never realised that the colour was in fact due to diet, I
imagined that if you fed them on yellow fish you might end up with yellow
birds.
