end of Day 3

Durham 350 and 25 for 3 (Roland-Jones 3-7) trail Middlesex 422 (Robson 84, Holden 71, Andersson 62, Stokes 4-72, Rushworth 3-60) by 47 runs

Weather intermittently cloudy and sunny . Bright sunshine in the final session of the day.

Stokes looked well and athletic. Bowled well at a decent pace.

The first time I have seen Holden bat. A left, hander, he had plenty of time to play.

A century partnership by Holden and Andersson was the highlight of the day. Andersson is a and attacking right hander . Bowls RFM but at the upper limits of RFM speed.

A couple of players I have not see before,@

The left arm spinning all rounder Liam Trevaskis . one of those spinners who walks rather than runs up to bowl. Bowled far too little because none of those who faced him looked comfortable.

Matt Salisbury looked like a run of the mill RFM.

Finally Toby Roland -Jones . I have seen R-Jones dozens of times, perhaps more than a hundred times. I can honestly say I have never seen him bowl poorly. So it was last evening. He took 3 wickets in 3 overs and every ball
had the batsman in trouble . On another day he could have taken half a dozen wickets without and exaggeration.

Sadly R-Jones has been much afflicted by injury. Had that not be the case I don't doubt he would have been an England regular bowler in the range of 85-90 mph and moving the ball late.

Rojos career has been blighted by injury but even so, and even though hes 34, I would
have preferred him at lords over Overton for the possible 3rd seamer slot. Plus hes
a better bat. Probably he'll get injured now i ve said this.

An England bowling slot seems to create some kind of injury magnet
these days.

That young Pakistani lad who was reported for chucking has been
'corrected'. The boffins noticed that he landed his front foot in some
way that made his deliveries a bit random, good, bad, wide and the
faster one was picked up as a chuck. He'll probably get injured now
too.
