G'day all,

Our Golf got written off in August and we replaced it with a demo A45S with 2560kms on the ODO for $20k less than other sellers were asking. I still miss the Golf, and in some areas it was better, but the Merc is awesome, obviously in the power and handling department.

In Comfort mode, it's pretty comfortable, but you still want to avoid potholes and have to go slower over speedhumps than I would in my daughter's Polo which only has 16 inch wheels IIRC.

It's amazing what they'll write shit off for these days. The A pillar
and suspension mounts are probably bent, but in competent hands that car
could easily be repaired.

There is a difference between a cosmetic "repair" and a structural one
that is as good as when it rolled off the factory floor. If you can't
guarantee how a car behaves in a collision as it was originally
engineered to then you don't take the risk.

Well, you don't care about your loved ones you might but most sane
people would not chance their lives or the lives of their loved ones on
some repair possibly carried out by some incompetent such as yourself.

cannot do that from your armchair so any expert hands won't be yours.

former colleagues) but you haven't ever worked as a smash repairer in a
commercial environment - so *minimal training* and *no experience*. How
the hell can an armchair expert like you just look at a couple of pics
and determine that car can be repaired? You haven't even seen *under the
skin* nor have you *measured anything*.

I watch a lot of YouTube videos were people OS buy cars cheap and repair
them, Bens Golf has only got a couple of scratches compared to what I
see being repaired.

How's the Sat Nav? I have a 2019 A35 and its version is utterly hopeless.
Verging on lethal.

And the VR system isn't much better. You don't even have to utter the
'M' word for it to ask you 'How can I help you?'

And a note on rubber: I recently replaced the original Pirelli Z's with
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's and the difference is stunning. It's now about
70% quieter, with a much softer ride and it's even stickier through the
bendy bits.

think MB would evaluate tyres and fit the best performers. but an
