I noticed this the last time there was a big snooker tournament shown
by the BBC, and it was the same with the one just finished.
During the early matches, Red Button or BBC 4 would show
night-time repeats of the matches from the day, sometimes repeated over
and over. But as the contest draws to a close, this extra coverage gets
rarer and rarer, the real slap in the face being that it is impossible
to see the final match without invoking iPlayer. The set I use in the
evening as I go to sleep is not iPlayer equipped, so I could have
watched lots of minor matches during the previous days, but not the
most important of the whole lot.

Strange policy-making.

I suspect the thinking is that during the early rounds people will not see
the results and will happily watch yesterday's match

but with the high profile in the media of the eventual winner, fewer people
will want to watch a replay having already seen the result

It's also a change from a few years ago, when the last evening session
of the Final used to be available on the red button the next morning
(and perhaps late on the previous evening too, but I never stayed up
late enough to find out).
