the saddlebag.

How about a drum-kit and all its associated cases? Weight probably no
more than about 85lbs all in, but the items tend to be a bit bulky and
awkward.

A truly efficient vehicle will have no problem with either. You have my
complete trust that you will be able to post a picture of a fairy-bike
satisfactorily carrying one of the above loads.

Note: *Fairy-bike*. Not fairy-bike and clown's trailer. I don't use a
trailer.

Or just a week’s shopping, not even for a family, just a couple. We fill a
boot of a small car - buying fresh food rather than using take a ways means
bulky shopping trips.

Wikipedia, not noted for accuracy when it comes to such things, gives
different figures for walking and cycling, and under-eggs the amount of
energy an EV uses.

Note: you need to be able to do simple arithmetic, and convert between
units, to discover this. Anyone who cycled 15 miles a day for 20 years to
their job as a research chemist will doubtless find this a trivial
exercise.

In 1988, I rode to one of mine five miles away - I took about five minutes trying to mount the bike at the end of the evening, but arrived home without falling off. ;-)
