MCC on a sticky wicket
Lord Grabiner QC is the latest high profile figure to stand up for tradition at the Home of Cricket. Grabiner, who served on the MCC’s development committee, says he will be voting against the decision to drop the Oxford v Cambridge and Eton v Harrow matches at a special meeting of members next month.

“With such a big issue as this, the club should have consulted the members,” he said at the launch of (former England wicket keeper) Jack Russell’s art exhibition at the Chris Beetles Gallery in London..

Grabiner is not alone. Fellow QC, Robert Griffiths, who chaired the development committee, has said the lack of consultation over the plans is unlawful. The MCC could be on a sticky wicket on this one.
