The driver of a Jaguar E-Pace has died after a crash on the M62 motorway in East Yorkshire.

Police said the man died after his car left the road and crashed into a ditch. A passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

It was not clear what caused the car to leave the road, Humberside Police said today (Wednesday). The driver died at the scene.

Now, officers want to speak to witnesses, including anyone who may have seen the grey E-Pace before the crash. Motorists who may have dashcam footage are also being asked to come forward.

A stretch of the motorway was closed for several hours following the accident last Friday (February 10). Witnesses said the air ambulance had been called to the scene, while some motorists reported being stuck in their cars for over an hour.

In a statement released today, police said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man has died following a single vehicle road traffic collision on the M62 on Friday February 10.

"It is reported at around 10am that a grey Jaguar E-Pace was travelling eastbound on the M62 between Howden and North Cave. For reasons that are not yet clear, the car is believed to have left the road before coming to a stop in a ditch.

"Emergency services attended, however the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time. The passenger was taken to hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 129 of February 10.

Not entirely.

I have seen several fairy-cyclists fairy-cycling on motorways over the

Ask him if there was any snoring from the driver's seat.

Oh, no. Not at all! Heavens forfend, in fact!

He never sees Spike's posts, you see. So he cannot be posting in
response to Spike at all.

Just like he wasn't responding to my post a few days ago (the only post
in a thread dormant for nearly two years).

Why has an image of a big and deep rectangular hole in the floor of a
domestic garage passed before my mind's eye?

There *used* to be a standard UK road sign denoting locations which were
said to examples of an "Accident Blackspot". I understand that it has
never been formally abolished and may be on its way back.

I wouldn't expect a fairy-cyclist to have that basic level of general
knowledge, though.

I see people quoting “accident hotspot” or the make of car. Unfortunately, 94% of all car accidents are down to human error.
