"With Alex Lees left out, Jennings will likely compete with Ben
Duckett to partner Zak Crawley at the top of the order."

Or a cringe with an underlying pessimism?

well those are the options theyve given themselves. Buckett
and Buster are both reputedly good players of spin and at least
theyve come off a good season in the CC. Not sure why Lees
was picked last winter but the selectors [always?] prefer a left/right
opening pair combo, and Lees had a long try out.

next year 1st ashes test.

Lees was picked because he had the reputation of being the most
difficult batsman to get out in the CC. And in the Spoons/Root era,
that was considered an important quality.

Cheers,

Mike
