Why? Vast majority of electronics stuff doesn’t care about magnetism. I

To solve your issue, you need to find out how the catch actually works. Some
are magnetic, some are a sprung ball while others have a little springy clip
that is supposed to catch when you shut it.
I often wonder why they aare not designed with hinges like kitchen cabinets
so the huing gives it a soft close effect. Of course if you have this
crammed with junk and it hits the door it will open whatever you do. Blue
tack is really not sticky enough if you have to open or close it a lot.

OK a few random thoughts. 1 how is it supposed to stay closed, maybe some
part is broken.2 piece of cord on one end of lid, pass through rear of glove
box, over a pulley, and add a plumbers weight on the other end, or for the
manual method, a looping the cord and you simply put the toe in it and pull
it shut with your foot.
3.5 Magnetic plastic as used in signs. Its like the stuff weather
forecasters used to have with clouds printed on them, and assuming some kind
of steel for it to stick against, glue it in the required place.

What about removing the lid and putting the hinge on the top so gravity
closes it?

Getit shut, leave it shut. All depends on what they need for the car/van
test. At present it holds the car handbook, about 1.5'' thick.

Haven't got around to doing anything yet, as every time i attempt to get
out it starts to rain. I will try the minimag, in spite of of my
previous problems with magnets. Ta all.
