Jesus did no such thing. Elijah didn't die, according to the
Bible. Please see 2 Kings 2:11. As such, Jesus cannot be claiming John
the Baptist is the reincarnation of Elijah.
Further, he was said to be like Elijah because he came in the
"spirit and power of Elijah." (Luke 1:17)
Even John the Baptist denied being Elijah in John 1:1921. And
they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are
you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."
